Indie Insights: Remedy Da Franchise
From Inspiration to Creation: The Indie Journey
Who is Remedy Da Franchise?
Born up north (Syracuse, NY) and raised in the syrup of the south (Orlando, FL) Remedy Da Franchise is the perfect medium. Growing up in a musical family, she discovered her love for hip hop and would later realize she possessed lyrical talent.
In her adolescent years, she spent free time making music with her peers and became part of a crew out of Jacksonville, FL. Outside of academics and sports, she unknowingly honed her marketing skills by growing an organic following on social media and expanding to 14,000+ followers on Myspace prior to the platform’s mass exodus.
After years of suffering from physical injuries, this former basketball phenom had a career-ending injury and chose to leave the NCAA to focus on her academics and craft.
While dropping multiple mixtapes and singles, Remedy went on to continue building her brand eventually garnering the support of fans internationally, snagging several underground music/video nominations and awards, appearing in publications and interviewing with both radio and television personalities. Her ability to rap alongside industry veterans and hip hop icons such as Project Pat, Vita and La Chat proved how skilled and versatile this emcee had become with her approach to music.
Following a hiatus to focus on her personal life and business acumen, she has returned with a renewed sense of purpose and a refined artistry that only experience can produce.
Her life continues to be told through music and #FranchisePlayers remains the movement.

Thank you so much for your time! Our readers are eager to delve deeper into who you are. Would you mind sharing your personal journey or backstory?
I began making music as a teenager, but my love for writing had been with me since childhood, long before I ever stepped into a recording studio. When I had to quit playing basketball due to injuries, I redirected all my energy and emotions into my music. It became a way for me to express myself and cope with the challenges I faced. Music has been my saving grace ever since.
Can you tell us about the moment when you realized that music was your calling?
It's something that never left me. I used to make tracks that my basketball team would run out to - like anthems over industry beats. Nothing professional, but it would give us energy to go out and kill our opponents. I started realizing that I had impact then. Once I sustained my injuries, I felt like it was a sign that I might need to focus more on my music since that didn't rely on my knees to be in good health. Once I got to college and sustained my final knee injury, that was confirmation that my musical hobby needed to become a focus.
Can you share an instance where a personal experience deeply influenced your music?
All my music is influence by my experiences or things that I witness. I've written songs about personal conflicts, clubbing, romantic relationships, even my children. One of my favorite tracks is about my children and how I hope they can forgive me for not having all the things in place that I felt like should have been before they got here - it's called "Queen". I bared my soul in that record.
Can you describe the challenges you've faced in your journey and how you overcame them?
I went through a time period where I wasn't sure if music was for me anymore. I have had a lot of let downs in my journey and have been met with a number of disappointing experiences within the industry. People have stolen from me, broken promises, and even betrayed me when I had the purest of intentions. I learned over time not to take things too personal and how to better protect myself. Putting things into perspective has helped me frame my situations in a healthier way instead of internalizing things.
Can you share a moment in your musical journey that has brought you the most joy or fulfillment, and explain why it stands out for you?
I had the opportunity to work with some legendary people. Collaborating with people who I grew up listening to is a huge thing because I value the OGs - they've already experienced the levels I desire to be at. They were living this life in an era where their artistry was super high value. To be able to create alongside artists who are iconic forever stands out to me because it validates that I belong in the game.
What's one thing about the music industry you wish you knew when you were starting out?
Business is everything - your talent will only get you but so far.
Can you share an experience where your music had an impact on the community or a social cause?
I've been able to inspire younger kids to create and make the music they like. I am super eclectic - my music has never been confined to one thing. I've met a number of adults as well who have told me they have watched my journey and been inspired to chase their dreams.
Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects or directions you're exploring in your music?
I'm writing a lot of music for publishers right now. Be listening out for my voice - it will be showing up on your favorite shows from time to time.
Where do you see your music journey headed in the next few years?
I'd like to eventually tour and continue expanding my network and fanbase.
Is there any aspect of your music that we haven't explored yet that you would like to delve into or share insights on?
Visuals - I enjoy video shoots. I am hoping to take that aspect of my artistry to another level over the next year. Stay tuned!
What advice would you give to upcoming artists trying to find their place in the music industry?
Do what feels natural to you. If you remain authentic, you won't lose yourself and you won't compromise your vision.
